Our Story
In 2011, NeuVanta founder and CEO Mark R. Luciano was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s disease at age 51.
Shortly after diagnosis, he began a diligent application of exercise sessions along with a limited pharmaceutical regimen. Positive results were quickly noticeable in Mark’s ability to manage symptoms effectively through exercise. Today he is still experiencing positive results, with minimal symptoms.
Convinced that people with Parkinson’s disease and older adults with balance issues could benefit from specific exercises, Mark decided to found NeuVanta and bring on an experienced adult education team. In 2015, Ann Boland, a 20+ year veteran in e-learning and Dr. Deb Kegelmeyer, internationally recognized for her research in movement disorders rehabilitation and Professor of Clinical Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at The Ohio State University, joined Mark.
NeuVanta soon took on broader scope as they acquired the Cognistar Continuing Legal Education (CLE) e-learning content from Mark’s former company, SmartPros. With that acquisition came the talent to create and manage accredited continuing education, regardless of the market. This helped financially and technically support NeuVanta as they developed a prototype product for Parkinson’s and older adult balance. In 2018, NeuVanta launched Create a Better You, a technology integrated exercise system to improve mobility, agility and balance. Also in 2018, NeuVanta purchased the WatchIT technology information e-learning content library from Smart Pros. Twenty-four new programs have been produced for that library annually.
Today, NeuVanta continues to work with our Subject Matter Expert (SME) partners to produce and sell CLE world-wide. WatchIT programs are sold through eLearning content distributors to the business and government markets world-wide. Create a Better You is used in senior living communities and home-health organization to provide higher quality of life to residents and clients with movement and balance challenges. Falling is still the highest initial cause of death among seniors.
In 2020, NeuVanta branded their eLearning creation and management Cognistar Studio to recognize its appeal to all markets, not just legal. The world turned upside-down by COVID-19 demands that all education formerly residing in the classroom must now be available online as well. Converting well-produced webinars and SME lectures (some of which may be sitting on the shelf) is the quickest way to create structured eLearning whenever and wherever needed. Cognistar Studio can create or use existing elements, edit them into digestible segments, add voice-over, structure, print, and testing as required. If needed, we obtain state-by-state or nationwide certification, handle course registration, record-keeping and notification of achievement.
